    FoxPro for calling elk?

Anybody ever use a FoxPro or other electronic caller for calling elk?

    #2
I am pretty sure that NM and CO have banned electronic callers for big game.

However, that doesn't really answer your question. Texas elk might be a different story.

Yes elk will come into a call. Not legal in most fair chase states I don't think.

Work like charm and yes most states do not allow.

Good grief. I never even thought of that. How in the world is it any different than using any other call?

I'm going to Utah, so I'll check on their regs.

Just like using electronic calls for turkey or deer here.

Check on regs for sure as some places have some surprising rules.

Was reading that Montana doesn't allow lighted nocks supposedly...? Haven't confirmed that but it seems like a ridiculous rule if true

I didn't know you couldn't use electronic calls for turkey or deer in Texas either. I've never used them for that, by the way. I never cared to, so I guess I never even looked it up.

That doesn't make much sense, but good to know. Glad I asked!

TPWD changed that a few years back expept for migratory and believe there is exceptions on that.
                    From there website.

                    Calling Devices
Calling devices (including manual and mouth-operated), recordings, and electrically amplified calls may be used to hunt game animals and game birds, except electronic calls may not be used to hunt migratory game birds, unless allowed by special regulation.

Well looks like I'm living in the past lol

                      Thanks for the clarification

I have looked through Utah's general field regulations and cannot seem to find anything on e callers. But the field guides don't have all of the rules. Maybe a quick call to the Utah game and fish.

In this state they barely started letting us use e callers for the big game species mountain lion few years back.

I know it's illegal to use electronic calls in Idaho for big game.

I have used a fox pro once or twice for just messing around seeing what would happen. I had a bunch of little bucks running around crazy looking for that doe lol.

This is how I understood it to be.

Basically any federally governed game (migratory birds) cannot use electronic calls except for Gooses, I think.
