Shift workers

I can't wait for the day I can leave the DuPont schedule behind. Days off during the week are nice but I would much rather know
I will be home at night and off on the holidays. Got two years left til our youngest will be in elementary and the wife will go back to work, and then I am free to take a lower paying job that isn't shift work! 10 years of it and I have had more than enough

I spent a lot of money because I would get bored.

I spend more money surfing the web at work than I do being off.

I'm 28 days on / off. I read a few books a week, sometimes one a day.

I also try to schedule trips in between shifts as well, for example: I'm going hiking in the mountains of California next week with my dad for 5 days, driving up to a wedding my next hitch off with some friends, and will spend a few days in Chicago afterwards, then in November I'm heading to Iceland for a week, I'm also hoping to make it to Oktoberfest this year (the real one). Once I have some land, that will consume most of my off-time.

I don't consider myself a shift worker but I am currently working nights. Sun-Wed 8:00p-6:00a. This is only my 2nd week on this schedule after being Mon-Fri 6:00a-3:00p for the last year and a half. It came with a very nice promotion and pay raise so I'm suffering through it. Was told it should be temporary 2-3 months. Trying to sleep during the day is not the easiest thing to do.
