    Prayers needed.

    Lots of prayers needed.

A Mount Pleasant ISD bus was transporting track athletes back to MP from a track meet in Paris last night. An 18 wheeler going the opposite direction crossed the line and was on a collision course with the Mount Pleasant ISD bus. The MP bus driver took evasive action and avoided the head-on collision, but rolled the bus on its side. The 18 wheeler continued in the oncoming lane and hit a car (that was immediately behind the bus) head-on. The driver of the car that was hit head on was a coach at Mount Pleasant HS.

The coach in the passenger car and the truck driver were killed.

The bus driver is in critical condition.

Multiple students in the bus were injured.

Prayers for that community. SAD SAD Deal.

This is my biggest fear while driving the bus. I literally drive for every sport I coach and put a bunch of miles on the bus. I have had some close calls with cars.

One of the coaches asked me why I take so many backroads on road trips.... This is the exact reason. If I can avoid 18 wheelers, I will.

Agreed. I drive 'em too and it give you a perspective that few people can understand - 40 to 70 of the best things in the lives of their parents. Most of whom you know personally.

Just this morning I had a bus driver report that an 18 wheeler blasted through her red lights/stop sign at 70 MPH. I'd love to have caught him and ruined his day as well as his CDL.

I cannot tell you how many times I see this. I drive a morning route as well.

One foggy morning, I came over a slight rise in the road and had headlights in my lane. I told the kids to hold on as I slammed the brakes. Yeah sure enough it was a dually passing another car.....on a very foggy morning.

And to make it worse, I know all children are precious but I pick up k-5.... I called my wife who works at the school I drop off at, and she said the kids were scared that day. They didn't know why but they were glad I was driving.
