    Glow Plugs???

I have a 08 6.6 Duramax, I have a couple glow plugs that are bad. Is there a certain brand I have to use or can anyone recommend a brand that wont cost a lot but do what they need to?

    Thanks GS

Oreilly's carries oem. Should be from Germany. I believe mine were about 20.00 each a few years ago

You can use any brand, AC Delco should be OEM for the chevys. Be careful with them when you remove them, they aren't as strong as you'd think they'd be and they are a ***** to get out if you break one off.

Don't forget to change out fuel filters when you do them...

Just use the AC delco ones from one of the chain stores. There pretty easy to do ONCE you get access to them.

They aren't bad to do. They are like 15 or 17 bucks a piece for the oem plugs, ac delco 9g. Just changed all mine on my 09 duramax. Put anti seize on the threads when you install them. All you have to do is remove the battery cables on the truck, remove the wheel well liners then change out the glow plugs.

Do yourself a favor and install this while you have the passenger wheel well liner out. https://www.madjackdiesel.com/mobile...ctCode=FFAPLMM It will make changing fuel filters a whole lot faster.

Duramax are pretty easy as far as diesels go, remove the fender plastics to make it easier. Powerjokes are a beotch and Cummins are too.

For everyone else reading this my dad had a glow plug pert break off and ruin #2 piston and head. Glow plugs are cheap enough to change every 100k.

A little anti seize can save thousands of dollars that's for sure.

                        This...

I turn a wrench for a living and diesels get extremely expensive extremely fast because of people not wanting to do things like this.

Should have rephrased it better the glow plug broke off while he was driving. Truck had 240K miles at the time.
