I had one on the current place I bought. It was 18000 gallon and wife and kids loved it. I hated cleaning it, but it wasn't too bad since it was a salt water system. I still cleaned on it more than I used it. Seemed to cost about $100-150/mth in electricity and chemicals. Eventually I poked a hole in the liner cleaning it. 18000 gallon busting out in about 20 seconds from the time I said oops to what you see in the videos.

We have an 18ft round 7600 gallon, this is our third year. We love ours, I have never been real big on going to public pools. I was hesitant for several years about getting one but really glad we did. They can be a pain to keep clean at times especially in late summer or early fall when the leafs start to fall. When the weather starts cooling down we drain in down below all the water lines and put a cover on it. We have a good pool place that tests our water weekly and use good quality chemicals. We have an automatic vacuum that we use and that cuts down on cleaning a lot. We just started ours up sat, it took a couple of hours to get the cover off and pool filled back up but it is well worth it for us.

My buddy had one put in when his kids were little. He built a beer drinking deck all the way around it.His 2 kids, and their friends used it a TON til they turned about 17,or so..He called me 2 yrs ago,and told me to bring over the skid loader. He ordered 16 yds of sandy loam to fill in the 3' hole they initially dug for it...Now it's a garden..They definitely got their money's worth out of it!

Thanks for all the replies so far. The wife has been on me for a pool for many years now. I really dont want to drop 65k on a in ground and the other day she mentioned being fine with an above ground. 8k seems alot better than the 65k for sure, just want to make sure they are worth the savings. My backyard slopes down to a slough and we are going to bury the pool about 2' into the high side, and then build a deck about halfway around. Hopefully this will shade the sides and keep it from getting so hot.
Any and all advice is appreciated.

we've got a 33' round, about 30,000 gal. they are a lot of fun but also an awful lot of work/maint. so far our liner has lasted about 6 yrs.
come fall cover it to keep leaves out, but you still have to maintain the water during winter.
don't put it anywhere near trees. also check with your homeowners insurance and see what requirements they have for them, fences/gates etc.
then just enjoy; never have regretted ours.
