    Rattigan-a worthy foe

The other day at my house I saw a rat in my back yard. Midday during lunch!

He was pretty gutsy to roam about in daylight and so I set out for a hunt with my bow. My first attempt that day I shot at his head in a burrow and missed as he retracted his head. I have watched him 3-4 times in the last week, my only shot opportunity was rebuffed by my wife as I tried to shoot out the kitchen window .

Well today, I caved and bought some traps. So I come home a little early today to set the traps. Literally I was looking out the back window, opening the plastic of the trap and peanut butter and sho' nuff...Rattigan was running the fence line!!!

I lept for my bow and release and eased out the back door. I thought it was about 15 yards to the fence where he was and I shot low, and he jumped and took off. Dang, miss #2.: I ranged the fence and found it to be at 20.

I decided to wait him out. How's all this for redneck so far??

Well, ol' boy decides to come SMELL where my arrow hit (I retrieved it) and that turns out to be his last mistake:

Before you say great shot, I was aiming for his body...ha.

Hahaha....Pretty expensive kill for the cost of an arrow on a rat. But, alot more fun than a boring ol' trap. Anybody can kill 'em that way. Not that many can do it with a bow and arrow.

If you aint shooting you aint having fun! Good kill. You kind of messed up a neck mount.... maybe make a small rug out of the hide.

                      Good shot!

I was rat hunting a couple weeks ago with an old BB gun.
Patterned then with a trail cam
