    New bow or crossbow?

I have thought about getting a crossbow or a new compound this year. One thing that has me hesitating on either just because I need to talk myself in spending the money. Both are expensive.
I have been looking at some Excalibur crossbows and an Elite Tempo. I don't know a lot about crossbows. Other than already having the bow drawn I don't what the other advantages are. I figure you lose most advantages you have with a crossbow after it is fired because of the increased noise. I don't know that is just what I assume.
Could you guys give me advice and try not to bash bow brands and crossbow use? I just want to be schooled.
    Thanks ahead of time

I have a one crossbow and four compounds and I shot them all. Crossbow if fun also I like shooting anything. A good crossbow is deadly. I can hold a 1inch group at 30yrds all day long. Shot a hog in the ear hole.

I had shoulder problems and bought a crossbow. It was heavy, clunky, and noisy. I fixed the problem with PT, buying a smoother pulling bow, and going down ten pounds. Sold the crossbow. YMMV

I have recurves, longbows, compounds, and a crossbow. Each has it's merit, but the crossbow is just cool .
