    Doss Tx

I am applying for a ranch job in Doss and know nothing about the town except where it is. I looked online and it shows a very low population so I'm guessing there's not much to it. Can anyone tell me about it?

There is a local cafe that makes a killer jalepeno cheeseburger!

I drive through it on my way to Harper. See lots of deer out that way but that is about it. The town basically consist of a church, a feed store, a post office, and a school. There was a store that made hamburgers but I have not seen it opened in quite a while.

The cafe is no more. More of a community than a town. Close to Mason and Fredericksburg. Pretty area. Is it the WhiteGhost?

One of those places that if you blink you will miss the town. Great country out there. Hunted there for a lot of years.

It is like 250 people. We have a place close to Cherry Springs. Small town, but close to some bigger cities. I think it has one of the oldest one room school houses in the state.

My uncle had 75 acres out there about 20 years ago. Beautiful. Always liked crossing the river by Lang's Mill. There is a post office and the school building. I can't remember anything else except I wish I was out there instead of Sulphur, LA right now.

If you're talking about the Doss Country Store restaurant that unfortunately closed a couple of years ago due to local politics (or so I'm told). And yes they used to make some killer food. My wife & I own property just outside of Doss so we're through there every other weekend. Town is VERY small...one stop sign kind of small. Used to have a feed store as well but it went out of business about a year ago. Now the only thing left in town is the church, school and the new firehouse. Not very much goes on throughout the year but every Labor Day weekend the VFD puts on one helluva fish fry with FREE BEER and thousands of people from all over (and out of) state showing up to participate.

Here are some pics of the annual Doss VFD fish fry they put on:
