Going Rate for Water to drill a Well

Buddy of mine has property in Oklahoma with a fairly large pond/lake on it.

He has been approached by a drilling company to purchase and pump about 500,000 gallons of water out of it that will draw it down about 2'.

What is a gallon or barrel of water worth for these purposes?

He has the only large reservoir of water in the area for a while.

Not sure but if there is nothing close I'd find out what it costs for them to have it trucked in and ask just short of that

$.50 per bbl is a fair price for both. A little more fair for the water owner.

That sounds pretty cheap. But I'm not a water guy.

I'd want $10k for that amount of water. You do the math.

Edited I thought it said 500k BBLs not 500k gals.

$10k would be a good number for that quanitity.

This was the going rate in the Eagle Ford for drilling and fracing wells.

Everytime they drain ours is 80k. They also put in three wells to fill it back up

I'd love to own something like that.

When the oil is high and they are making good money, they also spend a lot. They built our 2 ponds which take about 10 surface acres and dug them 20-27 feet deep.
