Thinking of bowfishing

Been looking into bowfishing, sounds really fun. Just not sure it'd be worth while, as I don't have a boat and am in Houston area. Seems closest place worth going would be Trinity river or Freeport and wade the bays. I already spend a good bit of time surf fishing or making the drive to public land to hunt, so not sure its that reasonable. Any places under 1 1/2 -2 hrs drive for bowfishing?

I went with froghunter 4 years ago and I'm now on my 2nd boat and I have 4 bows rigged for it. It's a blast.

Haha I have no doubt I'd be making plans for a boat asap, it sounds incredibly fun. Don't think I could keep a boat at our apartment, although I nearly sold my wife on getting a kayak earlier haha. Gotta move ourselves into a house before we get a boat. Would the bank fishing at Lake Conroe be any good, nearly forgot thats nearby. I'm guessing either that or wading the bays in surfside would be my best bet for now.
