    Duke Trap Anchor?

Do you think using a feeder anchor (That J shaped rod that you use on tripod feeder legs) through the chain of a Duke trap would be enough to keep the trap anchored to the ground with a raccoon pulling on it?

Do you have a t post or tree close? I use a short piece of chain and quick connect.
    Works great!!

I wouldn't chance it, unless you have something to keep the chain from slipping over the small end of the J. I just drive a tpost if I don't already have a pole or tree. I'm still fairly green on the Duke's traps though.

Now that I think about it, that anchor wouldn't work! Thanks for bringing me common sense. Thanks again!!

I use a snare extension and a quick link and just run them around a fence post, tree or feeder leg, here's a pic of the end of my setup. Be sure to tighten the quick links down real good

              This^^^^

Had one just wired to a tree and the darn coon untied the wire. Also had a raccoon strip all the bark, 360°and 6' high, off a 10" pine tree.

I attach to a cinder block with extra chain.

I use those connectors (can't remember what they're called) and chain like used on swing sets. They get pretty rough with it, so make sure it's plenty secure. Smart has a 2017 coon carnage thread with lots of good info on it.

I use the Berkshire Standard Disposable Stakes with 15-inch cable. Use a quick link to attach it to the trap.

I use bent rebar, each side is about 10" long.
Put it through end of chain and drive in ground with 3# hammer.
                      Works very well.
DO NOT drive into soft ground within reach of a tree.
