I can top that. My wife has a 2013 Explorer that was rear ended by a little Jeep and it did $9000 worth of damage. Jeep was very driveable as was my wife's Explorer snd it was not an aluminum body.
For you that are saying you will not buy one with an aluminum body what are you going to do never buy a new truck since most will that way soon?

Makes me wonder how long before insurance for the aluminum body vehicles is unaffordable.

about when all of the manufacturers go to aluminum bodies is when all insurance companies will raise their rates.

I'll just keep my '89 3/4t GMC X-cab and drive it till it literally falls apart. Got 268k on the factory 205hp 350 5sp now.

When it kicks the bucket, I'll find another old classic somewhere.

Torched is torched. No matter if its Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan, or Studebaker. Those folks had a bad day.

Definitely raises suspicion (I only got the fully involved pic) Course with all the plastics in a vehicle nowadays, it's no different than a can of gasoline. Would have to hear the whole story before deciding it didn't smell right.

Of course, however, I've conducted test burns and home me amazed how long it takes for a vehicle to get that well involved.

Yep, then the dealership would've been responsible for it since it would've been there waiting in parts to get all the recalls fixed

I was coming up 35 just north of temple about a week ago and there was a truck (bed) that just caught on fire, they were just coming to a stop and kids start jumping out. I pull over get my fire ext. out of my tool box and run it over to them. long story short they had been camping somewhere near by and one of the kids who was probably 5-6 decided he wanted to take some ashes home so he had got a shovel, put them in a card board box then stuck the box in his bag..

I've seen...as in first hand witnessed..as in jumped out of it when we saw the smoke.. f250 ..literally burn to the ground in under 10 minutes ..from puff of smoke under to hood ..to empty burned out carcass with no tires.
There is nothing fire retardant in these trucks.
                                Everything is an accelerant...
