    Big Bend Area

The wife and daughter are going to NY next week and Dad gum it I was not invited. Little slow with work right now so I'm thinking about jumping in the truck and making a little road trip. Any suggestions on where to go, stay or see ? Definitely want to see the Marfa lights. Thanks in advance GS

I've only been once and that was a few weeks ago for a drawn Aoudad hunt at Davis Mountains State Park. I didn't get to venture out much beyond there, but it's a great campground. I also checked out Elephant Mountain and was hoping to see some bighorns but never did.

I really liked Alpine and Ft. Davis. Big bend is cool, but that's some rough country.

Alpine is a nice little town. Marfa is quickly becoming the yuppy mecca of West Texas, lots of artist types. If you stay in Alpine, Big Bend is a short drive south. There's plenty to do in the Terlingua area. There's the Kiva Restaurant & Bar (underground bar), Starlight Theatre, and then there are local tours. The park itself has lots to see in it as well.

Go to alpine. Centrally located. More to do there. And cooler with elevation.
It hit 102 Wed down on the river already. Along the river.
              Take sun screen.

You better check and see if there is any place to stay.

For just you, you might be all right

Place is packed at Spring Break (next week), that is where we were going to try and go but no place I could find to stay
