We haven't seen any yet, but our feeders are out too. Our bluebirds started nest building a couple weeks ago but then stalled out before completing it. Our Mexican Plums and Redbuds are blooming. Can't be too long now.

I've seen a few black-chinned in Central TX.

Remember not to use the red coloring in hummingbird food. It cant be metabolized and can cause kidney issues.

Thx for the reminder! Also have to urge everyone to NOT put dye in the water/sugar mixture for the birds. If you want color, get a feeder that has a colored container, not colored nectar...

?? Just thought to ask...what is the mixture for water/sugar for these little ones? I hate the red stuff anyway since Momma and I always seem to spill some taking outside??

Thanks for the reminder...you guys down south normally get them before we do up here in Ntex.

I have a single feeder out but no takers yet. Waiting on my different plants that attract them to start blooming as well. Probably a few weeks out on that yet.

Word is about town that the visitors are back. Just got the feeders put out but no action yet.

Most of the time I find the "warnings" on here to be old wive's tales or such stuff. But, I research them anyway. According to the foremost source i use (Cornell U Ornithology Dept) using red dye is/may be harmful to hummers, so don't use it.
