Just found out on history channel that redneck was a name given to Scottish Protestants due to fact of them wearing red sash across their neck. Nothing to do with "hard working anglo people whos necks turn red from working in sun".Therefore we have a lot of Scottish Protestants here or people are using this term very incorrectly. Or said rednecks just wish they were Scottish Protestants. So which is it??( absolutely nothing wrong with scottish people or protestants unless they are here illegally then i would say arrest them or kickem out of this country)

This was also the case in the coal wars in West Virginia. The miners were known to wear red scarves to identify themselves.
