We are running a Spartan as well. It lasts about 6 wks on plain old reg AA batteries. Happy with it.
Covert has $150 worth of rechargable batts, solar charger, & Volt reducer. Only runs 8-10 days on regular batts. Bout a month with all the add ons. Not happy with it.
Has been working OK but have to change out 12 rechargable AA batts & 1 12v rechargable batt every month. But when I changed em this time it gave the NO SIM warning.
Where is the Sim ? I never messed with it.
Odd it wouldn't do the FM update. Always has in the past.....

Little white card slot on the the side to the left of the screen on this pic. When I bought new, I had to install the sim card.

Yet you are just honest and non-biased?
Not to hijack... but Can you share the covert battery system that's worked for you? I'm in a signal poor area and my battery life is a week max. I went with this set up and a 6 volt battery and it's STILL dead!

Covert Code Black : Help please.
Covert's own Solar panel with Eneloop Pro AAs. .... no externals nor special boxes. Roysmoke has been running his for over a year so it's TBH proven. Mine ran for a month with no issues in a 20% area. I moved it to my deer lease from my hog property after that and I'm in a signal free hole evidently. But the power is still at 80%. Moving it this weekend to a place with greater than 0 consistent signal.Last edited by Smart; 03-05-2017, 09:53 PM.

I think it's big enough but not sure. I copied a guys setup from tbh.
Set it up just like this, but I had issues with the 12v to 6v converter from covert so I got rid of it a ran a straight 6 volt battery to the camera. Everything else is like in the pic. Also using a 12 volt 10 watt solar panel. I'm going to convert to a 12 volt 9ah battery next week, a 12v to 6v converter I got online, and also put up an antenna like you have. I also set the remote control to a 4 hr delay. My signal strength is usually about 20%. Not sure what else I can do if all of this doesn't work other then give up and get a spartan. Hate to spend the money if I don't have too but I'm about SICK of this covert. It seems like the older models didn't have such a battery problem.
