I remember reading National Geographic, in the late 70's, of a new Ice Age was only a few centuries away. Claims that smog was causing global temperatures to drop because the suns heat could not reach the earth.

OK, so are you looking for an argument? I don't think there is any greater evidence that the warming of the earth is cyclical than evidence that global warming is a reality. The reality is thqat global warming COULD be a reality. Either way, don't you think reducing smog emissions is a good thing in general? Do you remember the Los Angelas of the 1970s? So, what are you trolling for?
