Unfortunately some of yall have been fooled into thinking this plan is cheaper..it is not.

You are paying $20-25 per month just for the phone and the plan is similarly priced.

I went to ATT today to look at my options.

The best route is to get the NEXT plan and keep your old phone. THen you come out ahead

I just switched to Verizon from ATT. They gave me close to $700 for my iPhone 6 to upgrade to an iphone 7S.

Our bills went down when we did switch to the next plan. I own my phone and we are paying on the wife's phone. Now the decrease was due to me not "paying" for my phone anymore I can only imagine. We also get heavy discounts for having ATT, Directv and internet bundled together. I think that is the biggest bill reducer.

This is wrong, but if you want to delude yourself, that's fine. Under the Next plan, AT&T stops charging the monthly cost of the phone as soon as the 24 or 30 months is over. Under the old plans, they kept padding the bill $20 every month you used the phone, even after your 24-month contract was up.

The phone price has always been the same. It sure is crazy what the price of a cell phone is, but they sure do a lot more than make calls I guess. I bought an iPhone out right from Apple the other day, and even with my discount it was almost $1000 after taxes.

                YES!

IMO, this is only worth it IF you have kids who don't use WIFI but for adults who use wifi and have a job with internet it may not be cheaper.

And also I upgraded to a Iphone5 3 years ago for $99. There is no way you can tell me a $750 phone split into 30 payments is cheaper

Go find a copy of your bill for the months following that purchase. You paid way more than $99 for that phone.

I have phone insurance through Geek Squad. I want to say it's $11/month and when you need a new phone it's $150 or $200. I believe it covers up to 3 phones in 2 years. I'm terrible with phones, so it works for me. I dropped mine in the water in Port O'Connor a few weeks ago and got a new one(refurbished). I'm on my third phone in the past year and a half. Lol.

You folks that thought you were buying your phone for only $199 or $299 with a 2 yr contract were getting snowed. You were financing the remaining balance of your phone via your monthly bill.

When I got on the Next Plan with my Iphone 6, they gave my bill a $25 monthly credit for switching and then said you will now be paying $25 a month for this phone. So it was a wash. You are or were already paying for the whole phone through your bill before (albeit hidden) plus the $199 or $299 it cost you upfront. Now there is no hidden cost or upfront payment in the bill they just tell you your phone is this much a month.

Yes the phone plans are cheaper now, as stated, once the phone is paid off in 24 months, that portion of your bill goes down. I went another route and bought a new phone from OnePlus. Great phone, $399 brand new overnighted to my house. It is an android phone and I have had it for 7-8 months. Love it, and love the price!

ATT next is actually cheaper for us...

On lines without a Next Plan, we pay $40/line for a smart phone access... if we have a Next plan on that line, the access fre is $15/line plus the cost of the phone (Next plan) which is $21/month... so we are actually getting new phones every 12-18 months and saving $4 per month, per line than if we would just keep our phones once paid off...

I've done the math and done it both ways...
