    Who makes these decisions ??

Anyone else ever notice that there is always a new word or a word that pops up more often in business meetings ? Its like they run in cycles.

The new word I've noticed this year is "Delta". Its like everyone else is reading the same book or one person hears it and uses it and on and on.
Not ranting just curious on who decides on what words we are supposed to use to impress each other.
I've had three meetings today and in all three meetings someone used "Delta"

Delta has been used for years to express the change in something. We look at the "Delta" or change from month to month in revenues and expenses, for example. I don't know if it is being used in another context now.

But I understand what you mean. I worked for a large company for eleven years and it was the buzzword of the month. Someone went to a seminar and wanted to say "look how smart I am". It got old after a while.

                1. " Lets get back to the Delta " talking about a bid.

                2. " The small bore is the Delta " a meeting about fabrication needs.

                3. " Close the loop and focus on the Delta " talking about a new accounting software that is kicking our butt.

Like stated above. The Delta is the "change or difference" in something. Used it all the time working with engineers. Whats the delta between 6 and 4? 2

I know what it means but it's one of those words that everyone has decided to use for everything

Well, "MOVING FORWARD".... the "TEAM" and "RELATIVE TO"..... drive me crazy. Delta, not so much, but I know what you mean about the BUZ words.

Lately I've heard vetted becoming a new phrase

Delta..... I have used that every day for 30 years at work, but it relates to the pressure and temp of the equipment I work with.

I was in a senior leadership class last year and when discussing personal goals and how to make ourselves better leaders we listed positives and negatives to focus on, except they didn't use the word negative, they used "Delta".
