    Fireplace mount question

For those of you that have a mount on a brick fireplace, I have a question. I'm going to put my elk shoulder mount on my brick fireplace. Which is better to put the anchor in, brick itself, or cement mortar between bricks? I'm guessing it weighs 35-40 lbs. th

    Thanks

Never use the mortar...Get a good masonry drill bit and the right size masonry screw from Ace/HD/Lowes and drill into the brick...The mortar will eventually crumble causing the bolt to pull out and your elk will hit the floor.

Very little and it won't be used much.
