    Is there a way?

To look up a dogs owner by the rabies tag number? Had a big male lab show up in the neighborhood and he seems to be too nice of a dog to just let keep running. Has rabies tag but nothing else. I called the vet office number but they won't be open until 8 on Monday morning.

The veterinary clinic on the tag will have the rabies tag/number in the medical history along with the owners name address and contact information. They should be able to contact the owners and arrange to reunite the owner and pet.

If it's possible, keep him contained till Monday morning.

His owner is prolly very upset, and would be grateful for you taking care of his buddy.

The vet should be able to point you in the right direction. If they have a 24hr number you may try calling it tomorrow and see if they'll look it up for you. Other wise wait until Monday.

        Also, get the neighborhood app.

Yea, I called their number but it went to the answering service. I have to wait until Monday.

It is, he is fat, drops his butt right where he is standing when you tell him to sit and is very friendly. I know he is definitely somebody's buddy because he is sitting at the back door just looking in. I couldn't turn him loose and risk him getting run over.

Sorry, meant to say Nextdoor app. It's an app that lets you connect with all the people in the area that are on it. People list lost and found pets, suspicious activity, classifieds. It's pretty cool.

Also, some areas have pages for lost and found pets on Facebook. With so many people on Facebook someone might know who's dog you have.

Good news folks, "Champ" has been returned to his owner. Our neighbor said she thought he belonged to a house just down the road. I went over and left them a note and they called and said it was the next guy down. He's back safe and sound
