I dont like poison at all. BUT, something has to be done about the pigs. There are way too many and hunting isnt keeping up. Maybe limit the areas that allow poisoning and see what the unintended consequences end up being might work.

        Landowners- Poison them...
Guys not landowners- Let hunters kill them..
Landowner- Liable when hunters breaks leg hunting pig...
Hunters- sues landowner for stepping in hole..

Most people who want pigs are guys who lease land for hunting. Most landowners can not stand pigs and want them gone.

I wonder how many issues people wouldn't even know existed if the internet didn't tell them that it was a problem for them.

It's an anti blood coagulant used for medical purposes in humans also, known as coumadin. It is a common blood thinner used to treat stroke victims. My mother is on it. And sometimes warfarin it's self.
I do have a problem with it being used incorrectly. And with the possibility with consumption of wild hogs that are currently feeding on it. The maker claims it will take a few feedings for the hogs to be killed. And there is a procedure process that is to be followed in it's usage, as well as a license to use it. There is a bit more on it. And I could see where it could be used in a restricted area where no hunting is allowed. I am concerned about the toxicity to bird life. As it doesn't take much to affect orions.
Ok, I SOLD Coumadin for about 8 years when I worked for Dupont so I have some knowledge and history with warfarin. My questions are how is it delivered? It would seem it has to be in some type of bait?

The article provided is not informative at the least. ANY critter that takes the bait will have a physiological affect...that's what warfarin does! In layman's terms....they bleed to death internally, same principal of action with Decon Rat Killer.

This drug is not used as an acute treatment for stroke....that drug is TPA/Activase/Retivase and dissolves the blood clots that create an Ischemic Stroke and AMI/Heart Attack. I also sold this drug when I was with Genentech. It will kill some patients too if not properly diagnosed and treated with very specific guidelines.

I'd want to see more SPECIFIC directions before I would even consider using it. I still remember my Dad loosing 3 English Pointers in ONE day due to the ranch owner poisoning yotes...of course he did not tell my Dad....thought Pop was going to kill the idiot. Yep...I HATE poison as a way to control any critters.

Again, all I have to go on is the article link...but it does not tell really anything.

Wouldnt eat that if they told me it tenderized the meat and was harmless.

I won't be a proponent of poisoning in my neighborhood. From the hunter standpoint, I just enjoy the challenge they present.

I'm on the fence with this. Only one killed this year and 12 last year. 525 acres with 6 blinds and feeders. About 6 are more hunters.

Something needs to be done to control these rodents imo. There is no way hunting is going to control this problem especially from what I have seen in the last couple weeks alone.

I'm a landowner. Love hunting pigs more than deer. Don't presume you can speak for all of us because you don't.

sorry. let me clarify. 99.9% of us do not like pigs. you are the 0.01%. tell me a little more about your land you own and hunt pigs on.

I don't have to tell you anything other than I own land and hunt pigs. You have an opinion so do I. Your vote counts just as much as mine. Even though you thinks it counts more because you have a bunch of land and I have a little. That is how a democracy works. It's ok to disagree, and even debate the points.

The hogs don't belong here. They are a bad thing economically and environmentally.
Whether people enjoy hunting them or not is quite frankly irrelevant.
This issue is bigger than hunting.
The introduction and / protection of non-native invasive species for recreation or aesthetics has caused irreparable harm, but this is at least a step in the right direction

Count me in as a landowner who enjoys hunting hogs more than deer. I can tag out in a weekend, then what will i do for the rest of the year.
