Everyone seems to do a trailer or a feeder, why not do something a little different?
A really cool picnic table with a fire pit, and a lazy susan to serve drinks
A glider bench with glider ottoman to sit outside (extra points for using light sheet metal gussets with dimple die holes to stiffen).
A hanging chair (a good excuse to use a tubing roller)
Have some fun with geometry, and it is OK to use curves in your design.
I use EMT to build scale models of any moving parts. It is cheap, and easy to work with. Wear a proper mask if you weld on it, zinc fumes are toxic.
Look at desert racing cars and rock buggies for inspiration and the implementation of style along with functionality and craftsmanship.

I saw two projects this year that were amazing. One was a bed that was made almost entirely out of recycled pallets. They used 4x4 or 6x6 for the post on the corners, but covered them in pallet boards. The head board was plywood covered in pallet board in a \/ pattern. Hope that makes sense. They also built some bookshelves with LED lights and USB outlets into the shelves of the headboard.
The other was a VERY large swing. They took two of the wooden porch swings and built a pergola over it. Then attached the swings to 2x6 that had a hole drilled in it and went through some pipe in the top of the pergola. It was pretty cool.
Also had a few picnic tables with built in coolers and some nice shooting benches.
