    Prickly Pear Cactus in Arlington

    Hey guys,

Bit of an odd question; is anyone up in the DFW area (specifically near Arlington) aware of any public places - parks or lakes or whatever - with a pretty good population of prickly pear cactus? I want to pot a few for my house but can't find them. I don't plan on digging anything up, so no property destruction to worry about. I want to get a few cuttings and see if I can make it happen. Anyone?

Oh P.S. - if anyone has planted/transplanted cacti and has tips, that'd be great..

Crap. We try to kill it. Not revive it haha.

    Good luck!!

I have spine-less cactus at my house all out by my pool..(I had young kids when I moved there so we went with the spine-less)...You just put the pods in a direct sunlight spot with some sand and leave them alone, they will grow anywhere ...the spineless look just like the Prickly but without the bigger thorns.

Very easy to grow cactus, remove a pad from parent plant, allow it to make soil contact- WALA! A new cactus grows, it'll grow better if you'll put the connection part in the ground.

Just break a pad off and stick it in dirt. It will grow. I can't hardly kill the stuff!
