Got a call that the Texas Workforce Commission want's to audit my business. Anyone else ever have them do this? They told us it was a random audit. Wanting records for just 2015.

Don't take it lightly. Sometimes they are no problem but you need to know what they are looking for and how to be prepared. Contact your CPA if you have one and they can fill you in. If you don't have one I would recommend trying to find one to get some advice before talking to the auditor.Comment

We have a CPA and are prepared. Have all our records intact. I think they wanted to know about our 1099's for 2015. I run a residential design and drafting business.Comment

I've heard they are cracking down on the definition "contract labor". Educate yourself on everything contract labor.Comment

Dropped off the info and get a better idea of what they were looking for. They had an employee in question from 2008. He still does contract work for me and that's what they were questioning. Right hand doesn't know that the left hand is doing. A little research and they could see he has been working full time for someone else since I let him go.Comment
