2017 Ford F250 - Anyone heard of any problems?

Considering buying a truck for the first time in over a decade, and the ford is at the top of the list. I'm a little hesitant simply because it's the first year of a redesign though- Do you have any experiences to share, good or bad?

    Thanks!

    Go here and read: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum279/

There have been some smaller problems, but a couple of doozies. Some folks have reported losing transmission fluid due to a faulty transmission fluid hose mount on the side of the tranny. But the big one is a number of engines have self-destructed due to faulty oil pumps. Ford released a Field Service Action for dealers to test the oil pressure after an 8-hour cold soak.

Just do all the reading you can and decide for yourself.

Do yourself a favor and buy a 2016. It still looks like a 3/4 ton, and no redesign.

        You want gas or diesel?

I have a 2012 diesel, first thing to go was exhaust filter. When I first bought it, I though nah, no way, those Ford techs that designed it know what they are doing, no need to delete it. Less then a year in, I had the truck deleted.

I will say, my next truck will be a gas because I don't want to mess with anything on it.

If you're purchasing a truck now, you will not have to worry about these issues as they have been resolved. Do you happen to have a source for the statement in bold? The affected trucks were promptly queued for service.

Why would anyone want to spend that kind of money on an outdated vehicle? The body is 18 years old and the interior doesnt hold a candle to the 2017. It seems like everyone that says dont get a 2017 has an older truck... I guarantee if you were to drive a 17 for a week, your 12 would not be the same.

To the OP, you can visit this page for all the reported issues with the 2017.

Keep in mind that this is a very skewed sample as these people often seek forums for advice on their problems rather than praising the truck. The 2017 is by far the nicest truck on the market in my opinion. The 6.7 powerstroke is very reliable and the fit and finish on the truck is top notch.

I've got one and love it. Just need ranchhand to hurry up and put out their horizon bumper for it.

If you read those forums, does not matter of which one, ford, chevy, dodge, you will not want to buy any of them. They will all scare the crap out of you. But like other said usually it's only people with problems that post to them so keep that in mind.

My buddy has it and he loves it. The interior is miles ahead of my 08 F250. If I ever get a new one I am going to go gas.

A few interior shots of some 2017s.

                      .
I have a 2015, and just spent some time driving a new 2017. With regards to the engine and performance, there was no difference at all. Maybe when it comes to hauling a lot heavier loads, but for practical purposes, they were pretty much the same. The ride was a little better, but to drop another 20K or more just to have a different look and a smoother ride......definitely NOT worth it IMO

I've had a 2017 since early December. No complaints. Ride is great, power to spare, fuel mileage has been great for what it does. Interior is luxurious.
Miles ahead of the 16. I have the 360 cameras, collision avoidance, retractable running boards. Yes sticker was over 70 and paid low 60's. But I can work it hard in the weekends and it looks good all week to commute and meet clients.
Dropped it off at the valet at dinner tonight and the kids were pumped to park it. It makes my wife laugh since it's "just a Ford truck" it to be honest they are luxury vehicles. Too many cool features and the fully boxed frame makes towing a snap. I'm blessed to be able to have choices but I'd take it over any vehicle on the road today, let alone 3/4 ton choices.
