    Wife wants new carpet.

What's a good brand of carpet? And what should I expect to pay per sq/ft including decent padding?

There are so many options I have no idea what's good or just cheap. And where's the best place to buy? Just Lowe's or Home Depot?

We've always gone to Home Depot to get our carpet.

They usually have a $99 install fee for the carpet (whole house) so from pricing around has always made it cheaper than other places as they're not charging per sq. foot

Only if it winds up not matching the drapes.

                Nothing worse than stinky carpet.

You might pay a little more but if you have a store other than HD or Lowes, i would go there because I personally would not let them install anything. You might buy from them but I would find my own installer. The good installers will be working for the bigger carpet/flooring centers if there is one close.

I agree. Slick tile is better than carpet.

Call these folks. We had carpet and wood floors done. I think the guys name is Tom, anyway he will come out and provide the guidance needed to make an informed decision. He helped us with understanding price, material qualities, colors…everything we needed to know. The work was well done, and I believe the price was inline. Great experience!
