    Tactical Handgun Training

Has anyone ever taken a tactical handgun class? If so, where did you go? Was it beneficial?

I ask because all of my practice has been standing straight up in a lane, with both hands on my gun, and casually shooting at a stationary paper target. I would love to learn more about how to properly draw and shoot, shoot using cover, how to properly clear a house, etc.

Yes, I have taken numerous classes through work (swat) as well as train on it constantly. At work and at home.

It is extremely beneficial. I find most people are very weak on reloads as well as being uncomfortable with shooting and moving.

House clearing is a great tool and is art really. We train constantly on it and once you get it is like riding a bike no matter the layout.

Shooting weak hand (pistol just in your weak hand), strong hand, proper grip with both hands is great to learn.

I love this stuff, I could talk for days about it.

I have several buddies that beg me to teach them and put on a class for them. I just haven't had a place to do it. Might be my calling if I ever get out of Law enforcement.

you can practice a lot of stuff we learn as tactical shooter by first being as familiar with your weapon as possible being able to clear a jam, double feed, we do it with stong arm weak arm one handed with both hands and those types of misfires then be as proficient at the standing still shooting as you can be before trying a walking shooting moving to and from cover and different positions right and left handed. lots of stuff to learn but once you are taught it is up to you to practice
