    IT Help. Broadband Speed Issue

I recently upgraded my home broadband service to 100mbps down and 100mbps up. On this pc, I'm getting 95ish down and 10 up. On my wife's box, I'm getting 95/95, my laptop is on my work VPN and getting 25/35 over wireless. But, this desktop machine just will not hit the higher upload speed. I've changed patch cables, ports on the switch to the one my wife's was on and nothing has fixed it. It has to be a setting on the network card on this box.

    Any ideas, nerds?

make sure its showing full duplex on the one with low upload. it can cause big differences in speed like that. sometimes the auto negotiation does not, well, auto negotiate like it should.

I toyed with that and found it didn't help.

I just opened my "killer network manager" and found it set to 10mbps upload. I changed that to 100 and problem solved.

      Woohoo!!!

Try a different port in your switch.

            I tried that.

It's solved, but that doesn't mean we can't talk about this **** for a while!

Stand on one foot, twirl in circles while rubbing your belly and head. Do this until you're dizzy.

              Glad you got it fixed.

I was getting close to attempting that.
