    Houston 290 traffic question

I have an upcoming 9 a.m. meeting in Houston later this month. I'll be coming from Austin and wanted to see what route y'all would suggest so I'm not stuck in traffic any longer than I have to. My destination is on Timmons Drive.

    Thanks

Spend the night in Houston or leave Austin at 5 am.

Take any tolls you can. 290 is a nightmare in the morning going in. and afternoon coming out.

Stay in a hotel overnight close to your destination.

290 to 610 to 59 is a train wreck in the mornings, good luck is all I got.

If you can get in before 6 am you should be fine.

Come in on 71 to I-10... traffic will still be bad, but it moves... ANY route is better n 290

if you have an EZTag(not sure it the Texas tag will work)... But if you did have one, come in on I10 and use the EZtag lanes. or better yet, bring someone and you can use the lanes for free. That will cut your time immensely.

Not really any good way around for this route.

Any possibility in pushing the meeting time back to 10:00 a.m? Morning rush hour is brutal, but will significantly drop off after 8:30 or so.

Otherwise, I'd plan for a large time window for traffic. You will have traffic on 290 starting as far out as Waller.

                          Good luck.

I live in a Houston burb.. if going in town for an 8am or 9am meeting you have to be on the road by 6am. Is staying the night before a possibility? that's your best option if you can find a place near your meeting spot

Save your sanity and rent a helicoptor
