Timed vs Free Choice Protein Feeders

I have a couple free choice feeders on a small place I hunt. I don't have any dreams of the deer jumping 20", but I have noticed having the feeders up tends to keep more deer around year to year.

Can't fix stupid. Man, you've been spouting the same stuff over and over without taking anything in context. If you weren't so dense, you would have understood that I stand 100% behind free choice feeding but I also know that there are many who can't afford free choice. For those that can't afford to keep feeders full, a timed feeder is a good option to stretch the protein dollars. Actually, there are those who grow huge deer that choose to regulate their feed with a timed feeder - Lamco's, Outbacks, Krivomans, All Seasons, Hammers, etc.

Maybe he was dropped on his head as a baby? I would love to hear his thoughts on feeding Double Down out of a timed unit.

We had some older style AS protein feeders. Worked fine. We used Purina. Not DD.

I have several 2000 lb free choice just thinking about putting a couple timed with our corn feeders.

I have the All Season 1,000lb Pro Evo timed protein feeder. It works great! I feed year around. I also have free choice protein feeders, but only fill them when we're there. I'm assuming they run out after 1 1/2 months. I can fill the free choice feeder in the morning when I get there (feeder has been empty for a month or longer) and I have Axis eating out of it that afternoon!! The smell of protein must just bounce off the hills! :-)
