Anyone use a penn jigmaster 500l

    What's y'all opinions

I don't think Penn makes anything that is bad. They been around a long time. My first bait caster was a Penn 109, the only reel made back in the 1950's that would hold up fishing the sandy water of Red River.

I use em for surf fishing for reds. You can throw em a long way when you get them set correctly. I prefer the 505 HS because the faster retrieve on it. Jigmasters were very popular back in the day. You can put magnets in them to help throw them also. Good luck, Kevin

I have a old, beat-up Jigmaster that I magged for long casting.
I haven't used it in a long time, but it is a good reel.

Good Reels. Also easy to upgrade with an Accurate frame to make a little beefier.

Biggest thing that I reeled in was a 20" red.

This river has some big far and huge cats. I'm going to try to find one to add to the collection

505 is a better reel if you can find one.
