    Deer behavior question

Thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone else has a theory:
I hunt in central Texas around Bryan, TX and have always done well with deer. I see most deer movement late October to mid December with peek around late November. This year I was able to squeeze a couple of day hunts in late December. I didn't see squat. I like to still-hunt and saw nothing. Not even while driving around the property. Typically I'll see some does or young deer in the distance while driving.
    My theories:
    1) Deer were just beaded down the days I hunted and weren't moving at night. Temps were exceptionally warm in the 70s and there was a decent moon.
2)The deer were recovering from active rut season and with the rainy season and acorn crop natural food was plentiful so no reason to move about.
    3) aliens abducted all the deer for experiment.
    Thoughts?

Hunting pressure and/or small grains(oats or wheat) planted around your place. This was a bumper acorn crop in some areas also.

Option number 3! J/k. I hunt in grimes county a lot close to Bryan and almost all my deer activity was at night this year. Sucked bad!

Some seasons are simply terrible. I've noticed, really wet years are not so bueno for hunters. Good for deer though but we don't see them. This was a strange season for most of us.

That's true. Last couple of years have been relatively wet. Better than the alternative.

If you have any oak trees around, it was the acorns. This was my worst year on the place I hunt in Central Tx. First time in 16 years I didn't kill a buck. I literally saw three deer all year in daylight. Had pics at night but there was just no reason for them to step in the open during the day with all the food in the woods. I had acorns falling on my head during my last hunts after Christmas. I checked cameras last week and wouldn't you know, there were bucks everywhere during the day since the freeze and no more acorns. Just my opinion anyways...

Lots of water all season long. They don't have to move much. Water, food, ladies. If they have plenty, there isn't much reason to walk around near hunters. I feel your pain though, it was a tough year for me as well in Burnet county. I usually see 12-15 deer per sit, this year it was closer to 2 or 3. I was skunked 4 times this year and hadn't been skunked in the 4 previous years period. Lots of groceries for them to eat.
