    Any Good Fishing Spots?

Hey everyone! Its starting to get warmer and I want to take the wife and son fishing soon.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any good places to go fishing. I don't have a boat unfortunately.

I live in Wylie but willing to drive a little bit

Take a look at Rowlett Creek. Sand Bass are starting to run. Park at Rowlett Creek Bike Park. Quick easy walk. I prefer to wear football cleats. Those banks can be slick and steep. Parking along Miller Rd as well.

If in Wylie drive up to the Blue River near Tishimingo Oklahoma and trout fish. We go all the time and catch our limits, 6, every time.

I've been wanting to do this. What's the best entry points and no-go areas?

actually I'll answer on here. There aren't any no go spots. Lots of river access both north and south of hwy 7 and also lots of areas down by Scotty's which is the main area of the blue river wma. Blue River WMA site shows where they release trout and the release weekly. We us floating garlic power bait rigged on a 14-18 size treble hook about foot and a half below small split shot. If you can't find the stuff here then Scotty's sells it all but will be higher. You can get out of state license online or in Tishimingo at the hardware store, Scotty's doesn't sell license. I always get online and save to my phone. It's nowhere in the rules but if you are fishing with others you have to have your name on your stringer, is just use white gorilla tape and a sharpie and run it through it. Not sure how they can ticket for that as I can't find the rule anywhere.....

Wow, thanks for all the great info. I've been thinking about heading up that way, maybe I'll go in a few weeks. Your advice will serve me well when I finally make the trip. I appreciate it.

just checked their facebook page, they will be doing some prescribed burns but no dates yet and dependent on weather. Areas to be burned are all near the "main" area. Most fishing access is on west side of river, north of the main area and the east side of river north of hwy 7. I haven't fished any areas on the north and west of main area but they have a lot of spots they release fish there north of the parking area. We wear waders to access some spots but definitely not a necessity and most people don't. Also, all their information says you need trout stamp/license but such a thing no longer exists, it's included with your license. They are good about answering questions on facebook.

Thanks! I'll have to check that out! I have never fished for sand bass before though. I'm fairly new to fishing.

                        Its a piece of cake.
Go have fun. When they run up the creeks, they get thick. There are a lot of good folks on the creek who'd talk and answer questions if you ask. TFF has a good thread in the bank fishing section for Rowlett Creek. Check that out. I think it's on 18 pages for the 2017 thread.
