Check the hobbies of making things to see which material you enjoy working with. Leather, pottery, wood, stone, and metal, some where in there should be a material that just fits you. Oh, I forgot tying flies. That is really nice to do.

Get neutered so you wont have any more of those expensive azz pets.

My parents started gardening together, it sounds like not much to do, but they are at it a few hours a day, planting, weeding, pruning, then picking and replanting. My dad is real DIY guy and starting making a aquaponics set up, with tanks and fish plumbed to the plants...now everything is growing 4x faster....and they have fish....i never thought gardening would be so involved.

I'm just getting in the process of sports every day, but a couple of things I LOVED to do before kids were: homemade wine(still do 20-30 gals per year, but used to do 100 and sell to friends or give away to friends/customers/vendors), self-processing pork/venison or store bought pork butts for exciting new sausages or smoking meats. I also made a ton of money smoking cheese as a hobby....super easy

Also, could volunteer to coach a t-ball or coach pitch team...one of the most influential person in my life coached my first kid's tball team (he was a grandparent and former minor league baseball player). His enthusiasm and input never waned, even though there may be a kid on his 6th swing off the tee...he also told kids of their responsibilities of playing a base, which is extremely rare at this age, and he really instilled a solid foundation for the kids. I also coach soccer, and my wife is on the board of the local league, and they are looking for volunteers to coach or help with administration. Lots of winter basketball leagues as well to help out if you're interested in athletics.

I can think of some more, including moving to a small neighborhood outside of the city limits with your dog, dogs, or wife, and making sure the neighborhood is secure, and driving around in a golf cart 3 or 4 times a day....

That sounds really cool! Do they have a facebook page or anything like that?

No, Facebook is "too complicated" for them. If you are looking for aquaponics info, there are thousands of websites and you tube videos on it. There are really endless options on how to do it.

Leather craft. Sheaths, wallets, back quiver, tooled pictures, etc.

Once the kids are out its a great time to work on your relationship with your wife, even the best relationships take a back seat sometimes to the kids.
We never suffered from the empty nest syndrome, now we are closer than ever before and mature enough to really enjoy each other. Sometimes we are like frigging newly weds and we have been married 27 years.

Get a bike and hit the trails. Paved or dirt it's a lot of fun. Then you and the wife can hit up a place to eat after and have a few drinks.

You have more time to spend "quality time" with your life partner without interruptions. Then take the time to do what you want to do gardening, fishing, hunting or just hang out and read. Just keep it stress free.

Our kids freak when we are out until 1am during the week. It's like being newly weds all over again.

Ours have learned that when the front gate is locked keep on driving, LOL
Knocking before coming in is a new skill they have had to learn the hard way.
