    Broadhead sharpness

    Question,
Do you find the sharpness of new broadheads adequate or do you find yourself disassembling it and sharpening them to razor sharp.

I'm finding that my idea of razor sharp is different than manufacturer's idea of razor sharp. My idea of razor sharp is Feather DE sharpness, so I'm thinking broadheads need to be able to shave with little effort

Just wondering what other's idea of sharp is and what they are seeing from broadhead manufacturers

It does seem that mechanical manufacturers are duller than fixed broadhead manufacturers, at least the ones I've seen. My montecs are scary sharp, but it seems that the swhackers I bought were sharp enough, but not razor sharp.

Seems like it just depends on what brand it is. Some come razor sharp some come butter knife sharp

Slick Tricks have always come pretty sharp out of package. I usually strop them with jewelers rough and leather before season though. I just got a CNC grinder in our machine shop that I have been anxious to try on some blades. Supposedly grinds to 5 millionths of an inch.

I shoot Wasp fixed broadheads and they come out of the box plenty sharp.

I can attest to the sharpness of slick tricks out of the package... cut my thumb to the bone...

I shoot traditional bows, and only shoot cut on contact heads. There are only a few traditional heads that come sharp enough out of the box to hunt with My main head is German Kinetic. They are as sharp as you can get out of the box, but you pay for that, as they are a bit on the expensive side. I also shoot Magnus Stingers and Wasp Traditioanal heads. The Stingers are not sharp enough out of the box to me, and I sharpen them. I have only had 6 Wasp heads, and they were very sharp out of the box. Not near as sharp as the GK heads, but sharp enough that I did not sharpen them before hunting with them.

I use a KME knife sharpener to sharpen all my broadheads.
