What is the deal with square toed boots?

if you look at the history of boots you will find the square toe was around longer and was more popular than the round toes.

Those square toes are some of the ugliest boots on the market. it is my opinion however.

Something else I find weird/wrong/funny/disturbing... Men are now wearing "sparkly" belts! Have been for about a year or so. Started with ropers and now I've seen a lot of guys doing it.
