So I shot a buck on 10/29/16. The skull wasn't recovered until 1/21/2017. The skull was picked pretty clean. It had a little smell to it so my brother stuck it in the pot with a fallow deer that he had shot. He didn't boil it for long but it still has a hint of smell to it. I have it soaking in a bucket with Dawn dish soap. Should I be re boiling it? Or should I let it soak in the dish soap for a while? How long would you let it sit in the soap. Will post pics in a second.

If possible, keep the water warm. Aquarium heaters do OK, but not great.
Change the water when it starts to look cloudy.

I agree with the above, that would make a great shoulder mount.

I no longer try the ant bed or maceration process because it leaves a yellow tint and stinks, especially in the brain cavity. During the last boil I add the dawn soap, wash it off then let it sit in a bleach bath for a couple hours, that seems to get rid of the smell. Last step is to wash that off and apply the peroxide and let it sit over night. Now all my euros are white and don't smell
