If you get the RV, it will decrease in price over time and unless you put it under a cover, it will get damage and do not think for a minute that mice/rats will stay out of it at a storage facility. I do not care if it is enclosed or whatever, if a mouse wants in, they will get in.

Thje best advice I got for storing an RV from a big RV dealer was to keep it not in a totally enclose place, but one that is with a cover only and keep a good supply of water underneath the trailer as that is what the mice/rats are primarily looking for. Also, if you do go enclosed, keep a light on 24/7 underneath the trailer as most mice/rats do not like the light.

More options of moving an RV that a portable building and probably cheaper, plus what type of water/toilet/shower system would you have in a portable building. Already there in an RV.

All good points. A shower isn't that big of a necessity as my future in laws live about 90 miles back towards Houston so showering on the way back and having dinner wouldn't be a problem.

The main issue is getting out of the elements if the weather gets too extreme and laying my head down at night that's not on solid ground.

Oh, that is different then I was thinking a year or two. I would go the building route then. The $10000 RV will be worth almost nothing in 10 years and you would have over $7,000 in storage. You wouldn't be able to pull a trailer out to the land with 4wheelers, corn, feeders, stands etc. because you would be pulling your house. And depending on how far the drive is an RV drops your mileage dramatically (mine goes from 21 to 9 mpg highway)

I have spent the money on a RV and will never do that again. I hated it and it lost value and appeal faster that you could ever imagine. The best money I spent was improving the house that was on my lease.

If you are worried about loosing the lease. Go and visit with the land owner first and see if you can work something out. My LO split the improvement cost with me and gave me a discount the fallowing year for all the extra improvements we did.

          Add a manufactured home.

Erase any of the options that include buying fabricated products unless they are used and highly depreciated.

I am amused at the travel trailer comments. If you buy junk, it will be junk. 16 years ago I bought the cheapest Jayco Eagle 29' 1993 trailer PPL had on the lot in Houston, 59 and BW8, for 6k. In that time I have had to fix a few minor things and it has been awesome. Buy a trailer and for 7k to 8k and put a 1k cover over it that you can mover around later. Use the rest for tires, axel clean and repair and you can take it anywhere you want and still have it as a deer camp! Your stuck with the portable building, especially if the property goes up for sale..........Just saying....Good luck with your decision. Used trailer advice, NO Water damage. No soft flooring, or evidence of any water leaks, under sinks, water tanks or exterior issues.

Well the good news is, the land owner is mi padre and mi uncle. So if I stay off the naughty list, everything should be fine.

I'd do this plan, there are some amazing things being done with these now days, the houses they can make look really nice. You can do a decent/nice build for cheap.

I'd want to burry it in the ground just so it's more "hidden" but that mostly cause I've always wanted a true "cave". Not sure how the steel would turn out under ground. Plus it would be harder to move later. Or you could put it some place you don't need to move it.

Are you sure you can get a shed like the one in that pic for only 5k?

Just depending on the bells and whistles I'd want to go on it prior to me getting out there and adding stuff to it.

The $10k is an overall budget, I can go more on the house and less bells and whistles once it's finally out there.

10k will pay for a lot of overnight hotel stays nearby in the next 5 years. Just thought I'd throw that out there since you asked for the wisest option. If dad and uncle would be interested in ponying up 10k each, you could build a nice ranch house or double wide to move out there for all to enjoy.

We need to know more about this future wife. The bathroom will always be #1 priority for her. You need a master plan with the family including your uncle and dad and her (assuming she exists.....).

She's actually very anti dead animals even though her father, brother, brother-in-law, uncles and cousins all hunt including myself.

She'd probably go out there occasionally but not regularly like us guys.

I was thinking about, either way, biting the bullet and getting a composting toilet.

Having said that why would you not just build a cabin and be done.

I would go portable building. Will be more comfortable with 3-4 men.
