    Stand placement question

How far do y'all like to keep stands away from each other? Asking out of pure curiosity.

Whether they are several of your own stands or other peoples stands.

I know there are several factors that can play into this but was just curious.

I try to keep about a minimum of 500-600 yards away from others if possible for reference.

I like the 500-600 but it seems in East Texas 300 is the magic number. And I'll try and sneak somewhere in the middle with a pop-up or brush blind and catch deer sneaking around the known blinds

What is the deer density and cover like? I prefer to keep them 1/4 mile to 1/2 mile minimum when I can.

1000 yards is what we use.

I looked ours up on some kind of app that I saw on tbh. Ours were all accidentally around 900 yards apart.

We had a deer that was killed 2.5 miles from another stand where he was on camera a week earlier. Deer range a lot more than most think. If you're asking for safety, that's one thing. If you're asking so that you're not hunting each other's deer, then you need A LOT of acreage. It all depends on the area, acreage, cover etc.

                  Whichever or both sir.

                  Unrelated to quote:

Also to clarify we hunt in the hill country and I have noticed when we hunt down south the stands tend to be further apart (600-800 yards) at least.

That's just another factor that plays into effect as mentioned in the original post.

Our lease rule is minimum of 500 yards but most are over half a mile between them.

Deer density dictates a lot of that ranging. Hill Country bucks won't normally travel as far as an east Texas buck will due to the number of doe.

More of a safety and curiosity/not getting to close to other hunters question.

Had a deer on our current place walk 1.5 miles from one stand to another in one day and then the following morning a TBH'er, on another piece of property, killed him a couple miles away. No doubt they travel

Ragin I don't know a lot about east Texas bucks but I'll bet the buck/doe ratio is about the same as the hill country or lower.
As to the OP, for safety a bullet can travel a long ways. So I say the further, the better.

Public land bow only...within 400 yds. So can help each other track and drag!!!

For safety, terrain and orientation are key. Could be quite close or need to be very far away depending on possible shooting angles or hills between stands.
