LEOs use it all the time. Yes it is taken from the elite Army Rangers. When you hear one say "Ranger Up".............it's go time. SWAT uses it a bunch more so on the tac entries you will hear them say the above with a "choice word" behind it.

Have your head on straight, **** is fixin to hit the fan.........."Ranger Up!"

Ever carried a 100lb ruck on a 20k movement after sleeping 2 -3 hrs at a time for several weeks straight and eating 1 stripped ham steak MRE every other day? Then you realize you're out of water 1K in.

Yeah that sucks but whatever, just another day just put a ranger roll in that patrol cap (looking cool is important) and put in a dip of fresh Copenhagen.

Wait out of dip...things just got serious.

Better Ranger up and double time to that cache point for more Copenhagen!

What does the term "Ranger Up" mean to you?

My dad was a Ranger during the Vietnam conflict. Served two tours. It makes me think of him, and he's a total bad ***.

I have nothing but respect for them.

The Ranger Up company mentioned above, also includes Tim Kennedy, the recently retired MMA fighter. I find their shirts hysterical.

Here's a short article to help educate you and expand your horizons.

U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Leroy Arthur Petry was presented the Medal of Honor for military valor during the War on Terrorism (Afghanistan).

Was doing a search and found this thread. Being an Army military brat; I can tell you what Ranger Up means. But I would dare say... most, including myself, don't know what it "feels like" to actually ranger up. I'd say most folks know what it is to "cowboy up."

The term's origin has nuthin to do with the Army!!!!

I won't tell you what it means to me, I'll tell y'all what it means:

The term "Ranger Up" applies to an early Texas Ranger requirement (pre-cartridge) that a Ranger must carry supplies for 100 shots (ammo) at all times. So its a "Be Ready"' "Git ur stuff together" "We're movin out" sort of term.
