    Injexion FMJs?

I'm gonna get some new arrows soon. Got an elk hunt lined up for August in Utah, so I'm gonna set up with some heavier arrows. I'm already at 463 grains with my original FMJs and 100 gr heads. FOC is only 10, but they fly great for me out of my Bear Carnage at 70#, and they blow through everything I shoot with them. I could add some weight on the end and a heavier broadhead for elk and get more FOC, and I'm sure those would be even better.

But I have been looking at the 4mm Injexions and thinking those would be even better if I was shooting past 30 yards in a crosswind. Downside is the Deep 6 deal and mostly just 100gr broadheads for that system. Is there a weighted outsert for the Injexions that has standard threads?

I've heard the 4mm fmj's arent durable, that they bend.

5mm is where it's at, according to the people I've talked with.

I have the 5mm and really like them. Some people say they bend easily, but I have had only one bend and that's because it stuck into caliche. As far as wind I can't really tell you, because the farthest I've shotten in the wind is maybe 30 yards. But since changing to these arrows I have had pass throughs on everything I have shot.

Yeah, I've read a few reports of that as well. I guess I could go with the Carbon Injexion or even the Black Eagle Deep Impact instead. I do like the jacket on the FMJ as insurance against ending up with carbon splinters through my hand. But that's not a huge deal.

I've shot targets out to 100 yards with my 5mm FMJs. Love the arrows. I've been thinking of going micro-diameter though on the theory that wind drift wouldn't be quite as bad with them.

I don't shoot at a whitetail past 25 yards, so it's not much of a concern for that. But I would be willing to shoot twice that far at an elk. If I can reduce wind drift, that would be a good thing.

I shot the FMJ's for a few years and loved them. Got away from them for a lighter arrow and more speed....why is beyond me but that's where I'm at.

The only thing that I don't care for in the FMJ is their weight makes it very hard to increase your FOC. In my limited knowledge / experience I believe a high FOC out shines pure weight in penetration and long distance accuracy.

I'm planning to add 50 grains to my Black Eagles on top of the 125 grain head that I'm currently shooting this year and step up to a Grim Reaper just for something different.

Were I headed to elk country I'd step up slightly in spine, add the 50 grain insert to the front and stick with my 125 grain Ramcats.

You may wish to PM Muddyfuzzy or Mudslinger as they have more arrow knowledge then most of us put together.

Shane, I think you can get outserts that will fit the smaller arrows.

I'm not a fan due to bending. I shoot BE deep impacts with SS invert/outcert. Think it's 50 or 52grs.

Only thing I don't live on the DI is nocks but they have improved them.

The fmj arrow flies great and penetrates great. I have killed piles of animals with them. That being said they are pretty much one and done for me. More times than not I retrieve a bent arrow.

I've seen more FMJs blow up than any other arrow. Hit anything hard and they are done. The old Easton Axis were/are a better shaft IMO.
There is also the Gold Tip Pierce Platinum that to me is a better shaft than FMJ. Fully tuneable with the collars.
                      They ain't cheap.

Sounds like the Injexions aren't as durable as the original FMJs.

                        Muddyfuzzy, here I come....
