We used to rattle them in South Texas all the time.............Rattling in deer is the most fun type of hunting I have done.........

I agree - Buck to do ratio has to be very close. Pre-rut is good, Rut is great and post-rut can be great too.
Sequence is extremely important when rattling. Start short and light. Wait 5 minutes and increase. Wait another 5 minutes and increase. I tend to hit it 6 times in 30 minutes. I almost alwyas catch the big boy later on in the sequence. Small bucks will come almost instantly.
Don't be afraid to stomp your foot and tear up some bushes.
Always set up with your shot down wind. All mature bucks will wind check as they approach.
Lastly, I am a firm believer that you need REAL antlers and the larger, the better.
