    Home insulation

Just curious to see if anyone has did this. Now days everyone building homes are having there homes spray foamed. I built my house 10 yrs ago and had regular insulation put in my house, attic and walls blown in.
Was wondering if you had your attic spray foamed would it be worth the money. I had checked and prior to spray foaming the attic you must first have the existing insulation removed which is around $400 and to have attic spray foamed was around $4000 .
Wondering if doing that would you see your electricity bill take a good drop.
I know my parents built a house a little over a year ago(2400 sq ft) and did the spray foam. There total electric like we are and there highest electric bill in last year had been around $145.
    Just curious if anyone has.

I don't know that just spraying foam in the attic will do you much good. Typically houses that have foam insulation are fully encapsulated in foam. You need to seal all gaps, the walls need to be foamed, exterior penetrations sealed, etc. Then you need to allow for make up air in your hvac system, etc. It's more involved than just spraying foam in the attic. Do plenty of research.

By the way, if you have radiant barrier decking, the foam won't stick to the radiant barrier surface too well.

We did our 15 year old attic 3 years ago cut our electric bill in half. Out attic never gets 10-12 deg warmer than house. It's amazing and if we ever build another house the attic, walls will be spray foam. Well worth the money.

I'm a builder here on Lake Fork and we foam the attic and batt the walls. Most energy is lost through the attic, windows and doors. There is very little energy lost through the walls, comparatively. Saves money and works great. Gook Luck!
