Sounds like you should get a spot on the ranch you have to drive through. That would only make it a 25 minute ride to town.

The headache of taking a chest freezer out with a generator, a better cool makes much more sense?

My plan was to just take it out there and leave it. Haul the ice in the coolers like normal, just store my ice in it while I'm there. Thinking it will be better insulated than my normal cooler and if I run it periodically in my generator it will help keep my ice.
