Spear fishing vs spear bear hunting

A video was released of Josh Bowmar spearing a bear and people lost their darn minds. Anti-hunters threw a fit, so UA dropped his wife's sponsorship, which was followed by hunters boycotting UA.

Outdoor Edge now has a commercial in which an outdoorsman spears a fish. When will we hear the huge outrage over this?

Short answer, we won't! In part because this commercial will only be seen on hunting channels, and in part because, apparently, bears have souls, and fish don't.

It would be easy for us to point out how these anti-hunters (many of which live in California, and I will use California for this example) just want to make a point and don't really care about the animals. The state flag of California has a grizzly bear on it. That is because there were once grizzlys in California. These same people who are pushing to reintroduce wolves to areas they no longer exist wouldn't dare let us put grizzlys in their back yards. Why? Because they are all ideological hypocrits, simply trying to show that they are for animals lives, as long as they don't interfere with their lives.

No reason for this rant, just pointing out the obvious and typing my opinion.

Maybe we should start a petition to have grizzlies re-introduced to the mountains outside Los Angeles.

This is the only thing I got out of the bear hunting spear video.

Big difference to the non hunter seeing a fish speared and a bear making all kinds of racket with a spear ran though em.

I encourage all to listen to Cam Hanes' podcast with Joe Rogan. Like him or not, he's a hunter and makes some darn good points about the Bowmars and hunting in general.

One thing that stands out to me and it quite scary..... "people who don't hunt, vote for our hunting rights". I'm paraphrasing Joe a little, but that's the jist. As hunters we need to be aware of that especially with what we put online and how we represent the sport we're so passionate about. Bear hunters in general get heat... a lot of it, for whatever reason. Spearing a fish.... "it's different", for whatever reason. As hunters, we know it's really not THAT MUCH different. How often to hear or read this BS " I'm against Sport hunting. I only like hunting if you eat the animal". Really? MOST of the people I know and surround myself with are hunters and everyone of them eat the animals they kill. Where did this idea come from? Non hunters somehow have the impression every bear killed is left for coyote food. I know it happens, but feel it's the minorty.

I have serious worries and concerns that we're at the beginning of the end of our hunting rights as we know it. The Bowmar BS aside, we continually find ourselves under attack and our answers are too **** quiet. This push to hand over public lands to the states could be a scary ordeal. I believe the Bowmars handled that hunt/video incorrectly. Hunting is brutal... it's the nature of it. In this era of social media, I don't believe, as hunters, we need to display that brutality for the world and non hunters (who vote) to see and judge us by.

Liberals see a bear as the thing that they held at night when they were 3 or 4 years old (And quite possibly still hold at night). That's why showing a video of a bear with a spear in it is the worst thing in the world to them.

And that's why people get mauled by bears, elk, and bison every year at Yellowstone. You can't fix stupid, just have to work to make sure there is enough of us out there to totally negate their vote.

100% agree WItoTX. Unfortunately, I don't believe, at this point, there are enough of us. "They" are a loud voice; louder than us. We have too many hunters in the "They won't take that right away from us".... until they do! I wish people knew how much harder it would be to get hunting rights back than it is to fight to keep them.
