If you own the mineral rights you could sell the dirt?

I paid a guy $2500 to dig my pond. He had the equipment and sold all the dirt. He ran 5 trucks an hour and took the dirt to wherever he had sold it. I had good dirt though. Good luck Roger. Looking forward to some pics.

Roger, did you realize if you dig a hole in the ground...that you will have some dirt to haul off?

Lol, yeah I figured I would, probably keep all the good soil that i could, use all the clay for the dam, the pond would probably be an acre tops. I have a great dirt man, he has done many many ponds, I still may hire a designer to help with it if i decide to go through with it. One small problem I have is access, i can come down my neighbors gravel drive but it is tight , i think he would be ok with it, i have used the access before, if i give him a free pass to fish all he wants that should do it.

where will dirt go? it is expensive to truck it off the property

15 gallons per minute is not a lot to keep a 1-2 acre pond full. you may need a larger pump

lots of folks I know go hire a bulldozer guy to dig a hole - find someone who builds ponds for a living - otherwise you may end up with an empty hole - also what kind of dirt are you digging into? any clay in it? otherwise you may have to use a liner which gets expensive.

Best person I know for advice is Bob Lusk - owns Pond Boss - go online to see his newsletter and website - he is the best bar none and the info on his site and magazine is the best

              good luck
              Bob Lusk is highly recommended.

Lol, I don't need any help, I have had a few bouts with the honorable City of Southlake before, but thanks for the offer.

Lol, just make it a 1 acre "pool".

Southlake is a special, special place but I'm sure you know somebody in planning down there.

you probably already know this but, just be sure to save topsoil to go on top on the dam. I got home one day to find my pondbuilder had buried the topsoil and spread the rocks and clay on top.
