    Battery Shorting Timer?

The thread is titled incorrectly - It should say: Motor shorting timer?

I know almost nothing about electricity, and I am trying to get to the bottom of a problem I have:

On occasion, when I run a test feed, the timer turns off after the test. The screen just goes blank even though all the wiring is still in tact.

I have replaced the timer, and it seemed like it was working fine. I went out this weekend, and the timer had not been working since I left it.

I started doing the test run, and then also doing a test with two different feed times before leaving it.

I am no rocket scientist, but I figure the problem is either the timer, the motor, or the battery. I have used different batteries and different timers, so I am making a post before I reluctantly do what I'm sure I need to do, replace the motor.

However, I also want to see if anyone knows what might be happening, oh and I'm sure I will get a few people who say I need to buy The Timer since the timers I have been running are Moultrie.

I would try a different brand of timer. Not because it's a Moultrie but because they were the same. The model you have could very well have an inherent problem with going off?

They don't call them Moldy Tree for nothing.

I have had the same issue. Timer goes off and then just fades to blank. I tried three different timers and all three did the same thing. All Moultrie as well.

Had the same issue with Moultrie timers. Some worked fine, others didn't. The last one I had would work on 6 or 12 volt systems. Would do what you said when set to 6v. Set it to 12 v and it seems to be working fine, even though it's a 6v system. Jury's still out whether or not that fixed the problem. Won't buy another one, almost as bad as the Wild Game Innovations crap.

Keep the comments coming...Right now, I am leaning towards replacing the timer with a Wilgame Innovations timer...only kidding. I like the looks of the ASF Tactical Timer - same company as The Timer for less money with more features. Anyone have any experience with the timer?

I like the remote option. I have gotten to the stand after the hogs, and it would be good to be able to get some corn on the ground from my setup without getting up out of my stand.

Interestingly enough, I think I am learning a lesson in getting what I paid for. I have a two Moultrie remotes right now. One works, one doesn't. I'm going to return the one that doesn't.
