    Weather next weekend?

I have held off the last trip to the lease in Kimble county until this next weekend. Planning on killing a doe and topping off feeders. I see there is a cold front and chance of rain coming for Saturday. Any weather experts out there have any more info on the rain? Is this looking like a non stop soaker, or just some storms here and there? Thanks.

Occasional showers is what it's calling for now. Guess you need to wait and see how it develops through the week.

        Weather next weekend?

I'd had plans of being at the lease the last 2 days with the kids, but due to the bitter cold I changed my mind. Now, next weekend isn't looking a whole lot better...

Looks like really high winds on Saturday possibly also. I did the same thing skipping this weekend. I'll take the cold over rain when it comes to hunting.

There was thread started earlier today, but my search-fu isn't working at the moment.

There looks to be another solid shot of cold air coming down the end of the work weekend or weekend. Not as cold as this weekend or earlier in December but decent none the less.

Several forecast models have a upper level system moving in and overriding the cold air in place. With gulf moisutenpossibly in place, these models are calling for a brutal ice storm for central and north Texas.

I can't stress enough I'm not saying that this is guaranteed to happen or to cease travel plans or stock up on necessities. But this is something to keep an eye on. There are some parameters that make this scenario plausible.

I think the hill country is far enough sour and west to avoid most of the treacherous weather. But 5 days out is a big window for a storm to shift south or cold air to dig deeper into Texas.

              Just stay mindful

Phil Robertson (a weather guy I follow on Facebook) is saying there's a 50/50 chance of a significant ice storm in Central Texas by the end of next week.

For the area where my lease is located they are saying the chance of rain is 80% Friday 95% Saturday and 65% Sunday - highs around 50. That sounds pretty lousy but I have learned to wait until the day before to make or possibly cancel plans. I don't mind hunting in the rain but over 1" makes most of our place impassable for a day or two.

You had mentioned thread about it started earlier in day. Mine was day before that. Didn't realize you were referring to my post. My bad. Well models have temps way warm now for weekend. Must be picking up wrap around warmth from northeast. Maybe models will flip the other way on temps. Who knows. Definitely looks like the moisture will be plentiful no matter the temps. What do you see Playa?

I don't know, I'm stumped on this one. Models have done this contraction on temps for each of the significant arctic fronts this winter, so I wasn't shocked to see if. But I am a bit hesitant to say "that's what they do" on this one. The angle of the cold air as it exits Canada is way different on this one. The previous front basically came and hit us head on, this one is going to back door is a bit.

If we are going to miss out on a winter storm, a big miss on a big ice storm seems just fine by me.

Sorry I didn't realize you had started that thread a day earlier. I was truck shopping Saturday and didn't look at models or TBH much
