    certificate of destruction on RV?

found a good deal on an RV but the seller says it has a cert of destruction... i had never heard of such a thing but wondering if anyone has dealt with this in Texas
Can I try to reregister it to tow down the road as a rebuilt or something... its a shame bc its a nice trailer, must have been in a flood or something.

May be similar or not. We totaled a RV this spring from the hail damage. Besides hail damage the trailer was sound. It would be considered a salvage title I think. I could have only bought liability insurance on it and it could be registered etc. I just couldn't buy it back and let it sit somewhere.

My brother's camper flooded in Louisiana last and the insurance paid it out as a complete total loss. They paid him what he paid for it new and it was about 5 years old.
He bought the trailer back from the insurance company for next to nothing as "salvage". The new title has it registered as such. He fixed it up and is still using it but cannot get insurance on it.
You can get tags for it but probably not insurance.

It would have to be a real smokin deal, like .05-.10 on the dollar for a salvaged title trailer to be a "good deal". That being said it might be a good deal for you to use on a lease or whatever.

Trailers do not need liability insurance to be towed, the tow vehicle is responsible for that. They do need to be inspected for registration but insurance will not come into play.

If an RV is financed then the lien holder usually requires insurance.

A demo. title is what you provide to the salvage yard/ dealer. This shows the vin# was reported and cleared to the state as a total loss.

Can't get insurance or tags to be on the road.
It's good for parting out and crushing.

You cannot ever register a cert of destruction again. Its basically only good for parts or scrap.

If you have the VIN number, you should be able to test it by trying to buy a temporary one-trip registration online. It's only valid for a few days, but it's enough to move a trailer to or from a deer lease or something like that. And it only costs $5. I have used them twice to move my trailer because I didn't want to have to get it inspected just to be on the road a few hours every few years.

That's what I do. Cheap and easy.
